Lionel Messi continues to shine in a PSG jersey after the World Cup. Now English football legend David Beckham has spoken very positively about him. Why does he love the Argentine idol?
Lionel Messi has had a fantastic year. After getting used to his new team in Paris, he has started to shine. And not only in the PSG team, but also in the Argentina jersey.
You can see it in his performances, his numbers and his desire to win, which is incredible. After all, he was a key man in Argentina’s quest for the World Cup trophy. He deservedly won the award for the best player of the tournament.
So there is a lot of talk that Messi could challenge for the Ballon d’Or again. If anything else would help him do that, it would undoubtedly be the Champions League trophy. However, his PSG will have to knock out Bayern Munich in the first knockout round.
Now, however, Messi has received a beautiful statement from one of football’s greatest icons. The Argentine was praised by David Beckham, the current owner of overseas club Inter Miami.
He should have picked a player he admires. “It has to be Messi,” he didn’t hesitate to reply. “I love him for many different reasons. He’s a great father, he has a great personality and a great character. He is an excellent person,” he expressed to ESPN Argentina.
“But I think what everyone loves about him is the way he plays football. He plays with passion, relaxed. He showed it again at the World Cup. The way he played for his team, for his country and to win the World Cup trophy was an incredible moment for him. I love watching players like him,” Beckham added.
It’s no secret that Beckham would love to one day bring Messi to his club. However, it seems unlikely. Although the Argentine is 35 years old, he recently admitted that he would like to play in the next World Cup.
After all, the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, not far from Messi’s Argentina.
