Messi could welcome another former teammate to Miami. Beckham’s team is interested in the Real Madrid legend
Inter Miami has reportedly held talks with Sergio Ramos about a sensational reunion with his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Lionel Messi. WHAT HAPPENED? Inter Miami sent shock waves through the soccer world in recent weeks when they announced the signings of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, and now it appears they will bring in another former La Liga legend. BIG PICTURE: According to SPORTS, the MLS side is in talks with former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos. For many years, the Spanish World Cup winner was a direct rival of Barcelona stars Messi and Busquets, but he played the last two years of his career alongside the former at PSG. MORE: SPORT also reports that Inter Miami is in “very advanced talks” with Spanish central defender Jordi Alba, who terminated his contract with Barcelona at the end of last season. WHAT’S NEXT WITH RAMOS? The defender reportedly wanted to stay in Paris but PSG decided not to offer him a new contract. The 37-year-old has been linked with Sevilla and a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia but looks set to join the “La Liga revolution” in Florida. This includes former Barca manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, who replaced Phil Neville as coach last month. With Inter Miami currently at the bottom of the MLS standings, Ramos could bring much-needed experience, leadership and defensive quality to the team.
David Beckham is having a very good summer as the owner of Inter Miami. He brought the best footballer in history and his former teammate from Barcelona to the American team. To make matters worse, one of the best defenders of his time may also arrive.
Inter Miami may not be having a good season sportingly, but two new big names will soon be joining the team. Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets and the best footballer in history Lionel Messi have signed for the Florida club.
The arrival of Messi in particular has caused a huge stir. Inter immediately started to grow its following on all social networks, and the entire American MLS competition can benefit from it.
To make matters worse, Gerardo Martino, who has coached Barcelona and the national teams of Argentina and Mexico, joined the team as its new coach.
And that may not be all. There has also been talk for some time that another former teammate of the Argentine idol Jordi Alba, who parted ways with Barcelona after the season, could come to Miami. However, nothing has been finalized yet.
The Spanish newspaper Sport then came up with another sensational piece of information. Messi could see a great former rival and recent teammate in one person in the team. Sergio Ramos, like Messi, has parted ways with PSG and is a free agent.
Although the Real Madrid legend was keen on staying in Paris, the club did not offer him a contract. Ramos has offers from Saudi Arabia, among others, but his departure overseas is much more likely.
So Miami is shaping up to be a very interesting team. No major star has worked there yet, but there could be several soon.
