Messi believes PSG can win the Champions League. But the best team won’t always win, he is clear

PSG have entered the Champions League knockout stage on a high. In their home game, they managed to beat the famous and hotly contested Real Madrid 1:0. The score could have been higher. After the win, Lionel Messi said that his team can definitely think about winning the competition.

PSG have a very difficult draw in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stage, as they have drawn Real Madrid, who are playing in great form this season.

However, the first match was excellent. The Parisians won 1: 0 and the result could have been more favourable. However, Lionel Messi missed a penalty and Kylian Mbappé also missed several chances, which eventually decided the close win.

Messi believes that PSG can not only advance past Real Madrid to the next stage, but win the whole competition outright. After all, it is with this goal in mind that the French hegemon signed him.

The captain of the Argentine national team is well aware that to succeed in the Champions League you need to sacrifice and play as a team.

“The strikers can’t just focus on attack, the defenders have to do more than just defend. We need to create a strong and united team that will attack and defend together. That is the way to be a truly competitive team in the Champions League,” Messi added.
