Memphis “The Lion” Depay becomes the next face of PUMA, collaboration goes beyond the football field
Global sports brand PUMA today unveiled Dutch FC Barcelona superstar Memphis Depay as the new face of the brand and its PUMA – ULTRA soccer shoes.
As part of the new partnership, PUMA will work with Memphis in a number of areas. After all, Depay is not only a star on the pitch, he is also a cultural icon. His talents are evidenced by the release of his debut hip hop freestyle “LA Vibes” in 2017, the subsequent release of his album “Heavy Stepper” in 2020 and a host of other activities.
As a result, PUMA plans to collaborate with Memphis on both football and lifestyle projects that symbolize his love for music, fashion, art and community outreach.
“PUMA shares my passion and I can’t wait for you to see what we have planned. I want to inspire people, to continue the work of my foundation, which among other things, shares the same values as PUMA’s REFORM platform,” says Memphis Depay.
“PUMA has worked with some of the most iconic footballers in history and I am proud to have one thing in common with them – the courage to break down established boundaries and introduce new ones,” he adds.
The partnership will combine influences from sport and culture to create unique products, starting with the launch of PUMA’s own collection for Memphis in 2022. The brand will develop fashion products with Memphis through its luxury brand BADTTW (Blind and Deaf to the World).
The brand’s motto perfectly reflects its attitude of being blind and deaf to external negativity. But the project is not only related to clothing, it has given Memphis the opportunity to work with a generation of young people around the world.
“We believe Memphis is a generational talent. He perfectly represents the PUMA Faster Football movement. With his fearless and proactive approach, he is creating positive change not only in football but also in society. His personality has rightly made him a leader of the younger generation,” explains Johan Adamsson, Global Director of Sports Marketing and Sports Licensing at PUMA.
Memphis is a pioneer of the new wave. He is a feared adversary on the court, with breathtaking speed and elite-level technical ability.
PUMA has always worked with true personalities, and Memphis is no different. Together, they believe they will set the pace for speed and style on and off the field.
