It was supposed to be a classic league match with Wolfsburg, but it turned out to be a record-breaking game. Lewandowski scored an incredible feat, scoring five goals in just 9 minutes.

24. september 2015 saw Bayern Munich clash with Wolfsburg in a league match. Bayern were the favourites but left some stars on the bench at the start of the game.

Among those was Robert Lewandowski, whom coach Guardiola only sent on the pitch after the half-time break. Wolfburg were 1-0 up after the first half and the Polish cannonballer should have helped turn the score around. He repaid the coach’s trust to the full.

The game was level after just six minutes of the second half. In the 51st minute, Lewandowski found a loose ball in the whitewash and tapped it into the open net with his left foot. He opened his scoring account for the evening and signalled a quick turnaround.

Lewandowski added another goal in the 52nd minute, just one minute later. He headed the ball into the middle and beat the opposition goalkeeper with a hard cross from the edge of the area.

The Polish striker completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute. During a breakthrough situation, he got the ball in the whitewash, the first shot was knocked out by the bar, the second by the opposing goalkeeper, until the next shot ended up in the net. A hat-trick in just four minutes would have been a remarkable feat, but nobody in the stadium knew that Lewandowski would add two more goals.

The spearhead striker added a fourth in the 57th minute, and it must be said that it was an uncatchable shot. Lewandowski ran onto a centre from the left side and from a volley that suited him perfectly, he shot through everything in his path.

But the Pole saved the best for last. After a centre from the right, he pounced on the centre and headed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with a leaping run. Lewandowski added his fifth goal in the 60th minute to complete his goal scoring account.

The whole football world admired Lewandowski’s performance. Coach Pep Guardiola was full of praise for him, and the Polish striker himself said, with some exaggeration, that he still longed for a sixth goal.

Interestingly, Lewandowski only needed 10 touches with the ball to achieve this historic moment. He thus confirmed that he is an extremely productive goal scorer, which he proved both at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
