Mega fight for Britain? Usyk is supposedly a coward, so Tyson Fury picks an unexpected replacement that will make your jaw drop
Tyson Fury shocked the world when he came out of retirement to call for an unexpected replacement for ‘Shrapnel’ Usyk, who is reportedly running away from their unification fight for all the belts. The name of Fury’s potential opponent will put you on your ass.
Tyson Fury shocked the world when he came out of retirement to call for an unexpected replacement for ‘Shrapnel’ Usyk, who is reportedly running away from their unification fight for all the belts. The name of Fury’s potential opponent will put you on your ass.
The unification bout for all of boxing’s heavyweight belts has already been scheduled
When Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua by a clear decision in the battle for the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts, everything was pointing towards a unification bout with the WBC belt holder. That is none other than Tyson Fury.
He may have retired from boxing, but there were rumours behind the scenes that the Brit was still keeping himself in fighting shape. It was widely expected that he would be the one to get all the heavyweight championship belts in boxing.
The information was backed up by Usyk himself, who challenged Fury while still in the ring after his last win. “Gypsy King” immediately accepted the challenge and offered his Ukrainian opponent a date for a possible fight.
“Srab” But Usyk turned down a December date
But a few days ago, Usyk turned down the December date, saying he was injured in the fight. In addition, he reportedly wants to enjoy some free time with his family, so their fight could take place next year. However, he is reportedly still in contention for the title, alluding to Fury’s nickname.
The British champion’s reaction didn’t wait long and he sent a message to Ukraine with his typical style. “Usyk, you middleweight, you say you want the WBC title and that the gypsies hold it, hell yes, the Gypsy King himself holds it,” he said on his Instagram.
“It is held by a monster of more than two meters that will destroy you,” he warned the Ukrainian champion. “You challenged me on TV and now you’re a coward who runs away and makes excuses for getting hurt,” he taunted Usyk.
But Tyson Fury shocked the world with an unexpected challenge
Clearly fired up, undefeated champion Fury has now come forward with news that is guaranteed to surprise you. For many years, a big fight has been looming, but after recent events, few believed it would ever happen.
“Anthony Joshua, I know you just lost your fight against Usyk and you don’t even hold a belt at the moment, but I’d still like to give you this opportunity and offer you a fight for the WBC heavyweight belt,” Fury shocked the boxing world in a post on his Instagram.
“You’ve had a 12 round fight so you’re fit and ready, so I’m sending you this challenge for a fight in a few months,” he reminded his countryman of his recent loss to Usyk.
“Fight for the UK and the WBC heavyweight belt, let me know if you are interested,” he said.“If not, I’ll pick another opponent,” he added. For Joshua, it’s a special opportunity for the mega fight he’s dreamed of his whole life. It would also be the biggest challenge of his career to date.
