It’s a concept designed to combine the artwork of artist Rabab Tantawy with the traditional McLaren colours.
The new colours were unveiled at a special event in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. They are the result of a major campaign, Driven by Change, which Vuse embarked on with McLaren. Formula One and McLaren fans will see the monoblocks for the first time during Friday practice sessions.
Vuse wants to do this to support up-and-coming artists over the age of 25 who have not received the worldwide recognition for their work that he says they deserve.
“We are thrilled to bring the world of art and motorsport together in this groundbreaking way by applying the art of Rabab Tantawy to our race cars,” their marketing director, Claire Cronin, said on McLaren’s official website.
“Together with Vuse, Driven by Change is a unique opportunity to use our global brand to support rising talent and give undiscovered creatives the opportunities they deserve,” she added.
She then concluded her statement by saying that Tantawy’s artwork is inspiring. Based on her words, McLaren is proud to be able to race in the color combination you can see above in the Twitter post.
McLaren has already repainted its monoblocks once this year, for the Monaco Grand Prix. Back then, they were celebrating a major partnership with Gulf Oil Corporation.
