Edmonton was able to turn around a two-goal deficit at home against St. Louis. The home team’s victory was decided in overtime by team captain Connor McDavid, who broke his shooting jinx.

First period for St. Louis

In the home team’s goal was the traditional number one Stuart Skinner. Jordan Binnington was in goal for the visitors. St. Louis struck early in the game, taking advantage of a power play. It was given to them by Leon Draisaitl, who was sent off, and the Blues needed only 14 seconds to convert it.

Skinner was outplayed by the Blues’ most productive player, Robert Thomas. He scored his 20th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later, Pavel Buchnevich, who is the Blues’ top scorer with 24 goals in the NHL this season, increased the St. Louis lead.

The home team managed to tie the game at 1:2 before the end of the first period. Binnington capitulated for the first time in the 19th minute. That was after Zach Hyman also took advantage of a power play and matched second-leading scorer Sam Reinhart with his 39th goal of the season.

Captain Connor McDavid also earned a point for his assist, extending his home point streak to 24 games in a row. The home team came alive after that shot and carried the momentum into the second period. In the 25th minute, forward Hyman beat Binnington for the second time in the game. He scored his 40th goal of the season.

He moved into second place on the scoring chart. Bouchard and McDavid also scored assists. The score remained unchanged until the end of the period, although the Blues had two power plays. In the third period, the score remained the same. Skinner recorded 10 successful hits and Binnigton caught 11 shots from the opponent.
