Kylian Mbappé is now in Qatar, where he and France will be looking for another World Cup title. However, his club future is also currently under discussion. This time the topic was opened by his former coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The French gem was set to make one of the biggest football decisions of recent years this summer. And he did, even though he made a different decision than expected. Instead of going to Real Madrid, he stayed in Paris.
But the start of the season found him in an interesting situation. There was a lot of talk that Kylian Mbappé was not well and that fame had gone to his head. There was a lot of talk about his behaviour on and off the pitch, however, in the last few weeks it hasn’t looked too bad.
After all, Mbappé has been on a tear and is PSG’s top scorer. Now the whole of France is hoping for a shooting feast at the World Cup in Qatar, where the Gallic cockroach country will be defending world champions.
However, the future of the 23-year-old striker is still up in the air. According to various speculations, he could leave Paris as early as this summer, despite his contract in Paris not expiring until the summer of 2025.
Former PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino would also welcome his departure. “Progress often happens by leaving your comfort zone. Him staying in Paris is good for the club and the fans, but Kylian will soon have to consider a change,” he told El Pais.
The Argentine coach believes that Mbappé will not win the Ballon d’Or otherwise. Besides, he compared him to Lionel Messi and Neymar, who are more responsible and finished players against him.
“Kylian is still looking for himself, he is not mature. He is an animal. He has huge charisma,” added Pochettino, who is currently without a commitment.
