Paris won their opening match of the Champions League group stage, beating Juventus 2-1 at home. Kylian Mbappé scored twice and Weston McKennie reduced the deficit in the second half.
Paris took the lead in the fifth minute. Neymar’s curve behind the defence found Kylian Mbappé, who made no mistake from the spot. PSG were in control of the game, with Juventus rarely getting into the attacking half.
But in the 19th minute, Arkadiusz Milik ran onto a centre from the right and Gianluigi Donnarumma had to make a great save. And three minutes later, the home side celebrated. Mbappé again finished the one-touch combination.
The second part of the first half was weaker, Paris played their game, Juventus seemed to be afraid of conceding more goals.
After the change of sides, Neymar got on the end of the ball but only hit the centre of the goal. Two minutes later, the Parisians went two-on-one, but Mbappé was selfish and instead of passing underneath himself, he shot inaccurately.
And he was unfortunate, as substitute Weston McKennie reduced the arrears at the other end with a header after a corner kick. In the 64th minute it could have been two goals again, but Mbappé did not head between the three posts this time.
Old Lady took the initiative and almost equalised in the 81st minute, but both attempts by Manuel Locatelli were stopped by the home defence. Eight minutes later, Neymar had the decisive shot, but the visitors’ goalkeeper made a great save.
Paris kept the end in sight, didn’t let Juventus put them under pressure and won 2-1.
