The summer transfer saga surrounding the transfer of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid is probably coming to an end. According to Spanish media, the official deal is expected to be “baked” within the next week.
The biggest transfer saga of last summer is coming to an end
Over the summer, media reports emerged that Kylian Mbappé wanted to leave his current employer Paris Saint-Germain and was set to head to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The Real Madrid president has come up with many impressive offers for the 23-year-old, whose contract with the club expires in June this year.
This means he could have been in talks with any other club since January. However, the owner of the Parisian club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, brushed all the Madrid club’s offers off the table, leaving Mbappé in Paris.
Did the eighth-final match between PSG and Real decide the match?
The eight-final draw of the Champions League, which brought together the rival clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, was a piquancy. After the first match at the Parc des Princes, which was decided in the last minute after a beautiful individual action by Mbappé, the footballer himself declared that he is not yet decided about his future.
However, Mbappé felt the magic of his favourite club from his youth and after he opened the scoring himself in the first half of the rematch at the Santiago Bernabéu, he was left crying at the final whistle. Real sensationally turned around a bad result in the second half through Karim Benzema’s hat-trick.
The two are friends and teammates in the French national team and, according to Spanish daily Marca, they had a 15-minute conversation together after the end of the aforementioned double-header where they clashed as rivals.
Mbappé is set to sign with Real Madrid next week
Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, according to Marca, negotiations between the two sides have intensified in recent days and everything points to next Friday as the day when this saga will finally come to a successful conclusion.
The next aspect will be the announcement of the transfer and its official launch, which probably won’t happen until the current season is over. After all, Mbappé is still fighting to win the French Ligue One with his current club Paris. Real Madrid have always behaved correctly when it comes to the formalities and timing of a potential transfer.
Although Mbappé has been able to negotiate with any club since January, Real Madrid had reportedly asked the player not to make any moves until both the eighth-final matches have been played. The move was to prevent the atmosphere between the two clubs from becoming even more complicated.
Mbappé is supposed to be the biggest star of the club and of La Liga
Mbappé is said to receive a transfer fee to Real Madrid worth between €60m and €80m and his wages will be around €25m per season after tax. That would mean he would be the highest earning footballer at the club and in La Liga as a whole.
The young footballer has been under a lot of pressure from his current employer to sign a new contract. As we recently informed you, PSG were supposed to offer the player double the salary he is supposed to have in Madrid and the signing bonus on the new contract was supposed to be as high as €100 million.
However, it seems that the footballer wants to fulfill his childhood dream, which is to put on the white jersey. Hopefully, we will soon learn new details about the possible transfer.
