The first big chance of the match, a straight goal, came in the 15th minute. Zuber’s centre found Seferovic in the whitewash and he headed accurately to the bar. The Swiss surprisingly took an early lead.
In the 26th minute, Mbappé took a direct free kick, but hit the wall and sent the rebound wide. Two minutes later, Rabiot struck from outside the box, but the ball just missed the target.

In the fifth minute of the first overtime, Pavard had a chance, but Sommer made a great save and headed the ball out for a corner. Giroud had the next and last chance of the overtime, but Sommer was quick to interfere with his header and the penalty was awarded.
