PSG invested huge sums of money years ago to reach the European throne. However, that still hasn’t happened and everyone is now wondering if Kylian Mbappé will extend his contract and stay with Neymar in Paris. A recent interview with the two footballers may have given fans a bit of a clue.
Mbappé and Neymar are two outstanding footballers who are dragging PSG to great success. However, last season didn’t go well for the Parisian outfit at all and after disagreements with the management, coach Thomas Tuchel also left, showing his former employer how big a mistake he made last season.
With Chelsea, the German coach captured the Champions League when his charges beat Manchester City in the final. But PSG are now led by Mauricio Pochettino, who is tasked with returning his new team to the domestic Ligue 1 throne and finally winning the Champions League.
However, all football fans are wondering whether he will try to do that with or without Mbappé. They may have given everyone a little hint with Neymar in an interesting club interview.
“I’m not a good journalist… What would I ask Neymar? What is your biggest dream after what you have already achieved in your life?” Mbappé asked his PSG teammate.
“My biggest dream is to win the Champions League with PSG and the World Cup with Brazil. And you, Kylian, your biggest dream is to win the Champions League, isn’t it?” responded Neymar to his teammate’s question.
“Why not another World Cup? ” the French striker recalled the great feeling of winning the gold medals three years ago.
“No, the next World Cup is mine,” Neymar interrupted Mbappé firmly.
“My biggest dream is of course to win the Champions League with PSG, that would be fantastic. But to win another World Cup would be great too,” Mbappé finished his interview with Neymar.
What is clear, however, is that Mbappé has only one season left on his contract with PSG and it would be a big risk on the part of the French outfit to keep the 22-year-old striker without a contract extension.
On the other hand, one cannot count on any European big club paying a similar amount for Kylian to what they brought him to Paris for. That is also why PSG might sacrifice a few tens of millions of euros for one more season.
