The latest speculations from the F1 environment speak about the fact that the chair is rocking significantly under the boss of the Italian stable from Maranello. But who should replace him? One of the alternatives that has been heavily discussed is Frédérick Vasseur from Alfa Romeo.
According to Italian media, Scuderia Ferrari is preparing for Binotto’s departure from the team. And this, of course, in the wake of a rather problematic season. Fans have seen the chaos at Ferrari all season long.
Whether it’s the results themselves in relation to Ferrari’s goals this year or especially in the course of the individual Grands Prix. And Binotto’s statements during this year’s race were not something that the boss of the famous Formula 1 team should have presented.
Of course, nothing is officially confirmed yet. However, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari is indeed looking for a replacement for Binotto. She should join the team no later than January 1, 2023.
The favourite to take Binnot’s place is said to be Fred Vasseur of Alfa Romeo. Other candidates include McLaren’s Andreas Seidl or Antonello Coletta, who leads Ferrari in GT racing.
Binotto has been Ferrari boss for four years, having replaced Maurizio Arrivabene in the role in 2019.
Ferrari has dismissed all speculation
The Italian stable from Maranello, on the other hand, has dismissed all claims of Binotto’s departure, as you can see for yourself in the attached Twitter post below.
“Regarding the speculation in certain media regarding the position of Scuderia Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto, Ferrari states that all these rumours are completely unfounded.”
Turbulent season for Ferrari
Whether there will indeed be a dismissal, we will have to wait for that and some official information. But it would make sense after a very botched season. After all, Ferrari dominated the opening two races of the season, but then reliability problems and, most importantly, incomprehensible chaos started to set in when it came to the choice of racing strategies.
The Italian team has ruined this season for itself with a series of very bad decisions, absolutely trivial communication and also because of unbelievable mistakes.
It should be noted that Ferrari fans probably still hear Binotto’s statement that “Ferrari does not want to win and fight for the title, but to be competitive.”
