Matouš Trmal is having a good start to the new season. Not only is he playing regularly for his team Vitória Guimarães SC, but he is also doing well individually. Trmal is putting in a good performance and collecting clean sheets. However, this is still not enough for national team coach Jaroslav Šilhavy.

On Sunday, 29 August 2021, Matouš Trmal was in the starting line-up of his team in the 4th round of the Portuguese top flight against Braga. The 22-year-old Czech did not let a single shot go behind his back and the match ended in a 0:0 draw.

Braga players tried to threaten the goal of the Czech goalkeeper mainly with placed and sharp shots from distance. However, the Znojmo native was able to cope with them. Trmal scored his third clean sheet in a row. In total, the talented goalkeeper has already played 6 matches this season and scored 4 clean sheets.

Even though this season has been more than successful for the 22-year-old goalkeeper, Šilhavy hasn’t noticed or noticed but ignores it. Instead, Ondrej Kolar, who has been heavily criticized this season, has appeared in the original nomination. Rightly so, I must add, because he makes a lot of mistakes.

However, Trmal didn’t even make the substitutes list, which included Koubek and Mandous, who haven’t played a minute this season. Koubek, moreover, last appeared in a competitive match on 18 November 2020 in the Czech Republic jersey, when he came on for the second half against Vaclik in the UEFA Nations League in Slovakia.

Today, 30 August, the changes that Jaroslav Šilhavy made to the nomination for the matches against Belarus, Belgium and Ukraine were announced. Several names are debatable, but we will focus on one of them. That is Jindřich Staněk, who replaced Ondřej Kolář.

Stanek has played only 1 game for Plzeň in the current season and that was yesterday against Hradec Kralove. In this match the Pilsen club lost 1::0.

On the other hand, it is necessary to add that the changes in the nomination did not include players from abroad, but only those who are active in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.

In any case, this does not change the fact that Trmal should have already been in the original basic nomination or at least among the substitutes. However, the Znojmo native doesn’t have to take it too personally, because there are other players who would have deserved an invitation instead of those who actually got it.
