Masters: Scheffler has a 3-shot lead for the title. Tiger lost his chance

American Scottie Scheffler still holds the lead in the tournament. Until the twelfth hole he played more or less a machine game, it seemed that we would not see any big drama at the top of the leaderboard this year. But then he too faltered, making four bogeys on the last seven holes.

He struggled the most on the last hole, where he spent a long time looking for the ball in the bushes after his first shot. He eventually found it, but was in a completely unplayable position. So he had to drop, which earned him one penalty shot. He eventually got out of trouble, however, and holds a three-shot lead after three rounds.

Cameron Smith of Australia played the best third round. He was the only one to break the -4 score for the round, which put him in a playable position on the leader board. With a total of -6, he will continue to chase the world leader on Sunday, which promises to be a very dramatic spectacle.

TIGER IN TROUBLE

Despite a less than stellar second round, Tiger Woods went into round three with optimism. Only, he practically repeated the scenario from the previous day, when his bogey on the very first hole went wrong.

He then took a shot back on the par five, but it was hole number five, where he played a double bogey, that took the biggest toll on his psyche.

He seemingly got back into his groove on the twelfth and thirteenth holes, but by the end of the third round he was looking visibly resigned as he played his second double bogey of the day on the last hole.

What Tiger failed to do, Sungjae Im of South Korea managed to do in the third round. Although he struggled early in the day, he put in a great performance on the second nine. After an awkward start to the round, he finally played one shot under par, holding a promising -4 overall.

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, who was considered by bookmakers and computer models to be the biggest ever favourite for this year’s Masters with odds of 10:1, was left out of the running for the green jacket. However, his third round did not go well at all. He played a +5, and his overall score was +7.

The best shot of the day came from South African Charl Schwartzel. He played an eagle on the four-over par ten, sending his second shot into the hole. It immediately catapulted him into a tie for second place, but he played just four bogeys the rest of the way. Still, he certainly won’t want to miss out on the title fight just yet.

The entire third round was played at Augusta in rather difficult weather conditions. In addition to the strong winds, the temperature was around 10-12°C, which was understandably reflected in the results.

However, the forecast suggests that Sunday’s final round could be played in more pleasant conditions. Who will eventually be the champion 86. Masters? Viewers can watch the decider live from 20:00 on CT Sport.
