Michal Martínek signed with KSW in Poland after the end of the Russian ACA organization, where he already had his first fight. He did very well and got an interesting ranking. It is not impossible that he could fight for the title soon.

The best Czech heavyweight at the moment? Without a doubt Michal Martinek. The former Octagon champion even made an appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he failed. Instead of the UFC, he headed to the Russian ACA.

He had three fights there, losing two of them. Still, he made a very good name for himself, as he took on truly huge challenges and wasn’t afraid to fight much bigger opponents. However, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he quit the ACA.

There was a lot of talk about a return to the Octagon or a stint in the newly formed RFA, but in the end he decided to sign with KSW in Poland. The reason is simple, the Polish organization will allow him to fight in his home country even under contract.

However, now the goal is clear, Martínek has a very good name and he proved it in his first fight in Poland, when he defeated the home prospect Filip Stawowy, who could not threaten the Czech fighter during three rounds.

Thanks to that, he has moved up to fifth place in the organization’s rankings, which means that a potential title fight may not be far away. On the contrary. For example, Ricardo Prasel, the current challenger to champion Phil De Fries, got his title shot after two wins.

Ahead of Martinek in the rankings are Darko Stosic, Mariusz Pudzianowski and Michal Kita.

The only fighter from the Czech Republic who fought in KSW for the title was Patrik Kincl, who was not able to beat Robert Soldic. Martínek could potentially be the first Polish champion in the Polish organization.
