The Czech national team managed a dress rehearsal before the European Championship, winning 3:1 against Albania at Letná. Patrik Schick, Lukáš Masopust and Ondřej Čelůstka scored consecutively.
The Albanians were a bit more active in the beginning, but they were not very good at shooting. The Czechs responded in the 11th minute when Tomáš Souček shot over the visitors’ goal. Six minutes later Jakub Jankto had a great chance, but the Albanian goalkeeper made a great save.
In the 18th minute, the Czechs celebrated. Lukáš Masopust found Patrik Schick in the whitewash, who fired a volley past Gentian Selman. In the 25th minute, the Leverkusen striker almost scored a second time, but this time Selman made the save.
After that, the game calmed down, until in the 42nd minute, Sokol Cikalleshi shot from distance and cleared the left post. The score was 1:1.
The beginning of the second half was full of unnecessary hard tackles by the Albanians and the game was very choppy. In the 61st minute, Schick ended the doldrums when his shot ended up in Selman’s gloves.
The goal came eight minutes later. After a nice combination, Masopust got on the ball and with a ground shot gave the away goalkeeper no chance.
Then the Albanians started to try again, but they basically missed Tomáš Vaclík’s goal. And so came the penalty. Jakub Pesek’s centre found Ondrej Celestka and he cleared the ball to the back post. Then the Albanians hit the bar, but nothing more happened and the match ended 3: 1.
