Marco Asensio is on his way out of the Spanish capital. He has failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid and has not signed a new contract. There are more interested parties, with PSG having the biggest ambitions.

The Spanish international has been in Madrid’s colours for some time now, specifically since 2015.

During these eight years, he looked for one season at Espanyol, since then he has stayed at the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, Asensio has almost never been a cornerstone of Los Blancos’ team. Rather, he represented more of a substitute role.

Although often used, he did not represent a stable member of the starting eleven. The winger is still a relatively young player and at the age of 27, he wants to look elsewhere.

However, the Madrid big club was still interested in his services, but there was no willingness to extend the contract from the forward’s side.

Asensio’s current contract expires at the end of June 2023, less than a month from now. It is therefore clear that Galácticos will not gain a single euro from providing his services to another employer.

Of the interested parties, PSG of France is the most talked about. In fact, the Parisian big club will be looking for a new revival of the wing spaces.

The reason is simple. Lionel Messi has almost both feet out of the Parc des Princes and Neymar’s future is also unclear. Asensio could thus become a quality potential replacement.

A handful of Premier League clubs are interested in the Spaniard’s services, among others, with Aston Villa being the most speculated.

However, the latter has not got the green light for negotiations so far, as the transfer situation is being dealt with very seriously by the aforementioned PSG.

The winger’s value on the transfer market has been on a downward trend in recent seasons. The highest was around 2018, when Asensio was worth almost 90 million euros.

It was a season when the player really shone alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid, among other things, thanks to him, snatched the Champions League championship back then.
