Manchester United fans have been waiting for a new coach like a mercy killing. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be a club icon and is liked by everyone humanly speaking, but his coaching role hasn’t gone too well.
He was given a selection of stars to choose from, but he couldn’t manage them. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford. These are all star names in world football.
But Solskjaer couldn’t find the recipe for success. That’s what interim coach Ralf Rangnick will try to do until the end of the season. The German strategist, from whom Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel have learned, is set to take the Red Devils to the next level.
The “geggenpresinku” founder is expected to add order to United’s game and impose his own style of play. That was completely lacking under Solskjaer.
Rangnick has been announced as coach for some time, but was waiting to get a work permit in the UK. That has now finally happened and there is nothing stopping Rangnick from starting to rebuild Manchester United in his own way.
He will not yet be available for Thursday’s game (December 2) against Arsenal and will make his coaching debut on the bench on Sunday, December 5, when Manchester United welcome Crystal Palace at home.
