Our Czech representatives in the service of West Ham will face another clash with Manchester United on Wednesday evening, with the difference that compared to the weekend it will be played at Old Trafford and with changed line-ups.
Both teams are playing European Cups and therefore the coaches will certainly rotate the line-up. Ronaldo, Fernandez and Pogba will probably not play in this round of the EFL Cup. But of course, this is also true for the Hammers.
But David Moyes certainly doesn’t have as strong a bench as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it is therefore obvious who will be the favourites. Alex King, who hasn’t even logged a minute in a West Ham jersey, could make his debut.
The last game between the two sides, which took place in London this weekend, was certainly not easy for the Red Devils. They were the better team, but a draw would have been a good result. However, it was denied by an unconverted penalty at the end by Mark Noble, whom we will most likely see in the starting line-up, perhaps with the King.
Manchester United have otherwise done well to falter against Southampton (1::1) and Young Boys (2::1). However, this is largely due to the effective Ronaldo, who right from the edge leaves no one in doubt that he is no longer the striker he used to be.
That’s why it will be interesting to see how his replacements Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani, whose start is in question, will perform. However, if the Uruguayan striker is fit, he will probably play.
For West Ham, this weekend’s defeat was their first of the current season. It lost points in the games against Crystal Palace (2: 2) and Southampton (0: 0).
However, in the last 5 duels between the Hammers and United, they have only drawn once and lost the remaining duels. However, it must be added that these are traditionally very evenly matched games, as we witnessed this weekend.
We can expect a similarly thrilling battle this time around. At Manchester United we will see a very different line-up 99% of the time, however, I don’t expect such an upset at West Ham and therefore it will depend on how much Moyes wants to succeed and advance this time. That’s why I expect more goals again, and betting on both teams to score seems to be a good bet.
