A revved-up Manchester United, 100 per cent since Christmas, will enter the FA Cup on Friday at home to struggling Everton, who are fighting for salvation in the league. What to expect from the game and what to bet on?

Manchester United are 100 per cent so far after the World Cup. They knocked out Burnley in the cup and won three times in the league, each time with a clean sheet. They are fourth in the table, only a point behind third-placed Newcastle, with a game to spare.

A struggling Everton drew 1-1 at Manchester City at the weekend, but then went down ignominiously at home to Brighton 1-4. They are up to 16th place, one point clear of the relegation zone.

Manchester City’s key figures

On the home side, Marcus Rashford is firing. He has scored in all the post-Christmas rounds and has 12 shots and four assists in total. In the centre of midfield, Casemiro excels, the Brazilian shield has also been involved in five goals (2+3).

Everton’s key figures

The hard-working Nigerian all-rounder Alex Iwobi is putting in a solid performance in a Toffees jersey, assisting six times and scoring once so far. Winger Demarai Gray has scored five goals, hitting in the last two league rounds.

What to expect and what to bet on?

Despite the initial horror, Manchester have worked on their defensive line and with 20 goals conceded, they already have slowly the best in the league. Moreover, it has kept a clean sheet in ten of its last 14 competitive games.

Everton’s defensive line, on the other hand, is on fire. The duel at the Etihad Stadium was an exception, the Toffees have netted more than once in five of their last six games. Moreover, with 14 goals scored, only four teams have a worse attack.

Considering the fact that Everton’s defence and attack are not working, and the great atmosphere in the home side’s cabin, I think Manchester will win at Old Trafford and at least two goals will fall.

Given the poor productivity of Everton’s players and the assumption that the wider squad will get a chance on both sides, I think Manchester will win and score four goals at most.
