Manchester United vs. Burnley: Preview and betting tips
Manchester United welcome Burnley on Thursday. Both teams need points like salt, a win would put the home side in the top 5, while a win would take the visitors out of the relegation zone.
Manchester United have picked up under new coach Ralf Rangnick, winning four of their last five games, yet are only seventh in the table. They are three points behind fifth-placed West Ham with two games in hand.
Burnley are in the relegation zone. It has won only one league game and is only eighteenth with eleven points. It has played the fewest games of the whole league (15) and is two points behind the relegation places.
Cristiano Ronaldo leads the home side’s attack, the Portuguese icon has already scored seven goals and assisted twice in the Premier League. In the last round, Edinson Cavani shone with a good performance and the only goal of the Red Devils.
Burnley’s summer signing Maxwel Cornet boasts five shots, but the left-back or wing-back has been silent since October. Praise can be given to long-time stalwarts Ben Mee and Nick Pope, who hold the defensive line.
Although few would have expected it before the season, Manchester have struggled particularly in attack. They have scored just one goal in five of their last six games, the exception being the 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Burnley’s games have been low on goals. The Clarets have the third worst offense (14 goals scored), on the other hand they have the best defense from the second half of the table. They have scored fewer goals than Arsenal or Manchester United.
Considering Burnley haven’t played for over two weeks due to the covid, I think Manchester will confirm their role as favourites and win by two or more goals.
