Manchester United need to plug the hole on the edge of the defence. Will Chelsea nod to their bid for Cucurella?

Manchester United are reporting major injury problems at the start of the season. Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacio have now been joined by Luke Shaw. The club’s management has already had to react to this and the number one choice for the edge of defence is Marc Cucurella.

Injuries have not escaped Manchester United at the start of the new season. Mount will miss around four to six weeks, with Malacio’s return also expected to be in the order of a few weeks. In addition, Tom Heaton, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund are also out.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing in the Spanish midfielder on loan. If unsuccessful, it then has two other alternatives ready to try in case of Chelsea’s reluctance.

Cucurella, meanwhile, arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer for a sum in excess of €65 million. He was a regular last season, however, an injury came in the spring and he hasn’t seen a single minute on the pitch so far in the new season.
