- Manchester United losing key players in preparation
- Rasmus Højlund or Leny Yor to miss long break
- Marcus Rashford has also limped out of the last pre-season game
Manchester United will be looking to storm back to the top after last season’s failure. The Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League and if it wasn’t for the FA Cup win, they wouldn’t have even played in European competitions.
New signings should also help United to return to the top. The young Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee arrived for 42.5 million euros.
Manchester also sent a huge chunk of money to French side Lille. Talented stopper Leny Yoro cost the English big club 62 million euros.
However, not everything is going according to plan. It was Yoro who injured his ankle during the preliminary match against Arsenal. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, he is expected to have a break of up to three months. Videos of the French talent walking on crutches and wearing a protective boot are circulating on social media.
However, in the same match against Arsenal, Rasmus Højlund, the Danish top striker who scored 10 goals and 2 assists in the last league season, was also injured. The 21-year-old sniper is expected to be out of training for 6 weeks.
However, the horror of Manchester physios may not be over. One of the biggest stars of the “red” part of Manchester, Marcus Rashford, limped out of Thursday’s match against Real Betis, which was played at 4 o’clock CET.
Manchester United will play one more preliminary match against Liverpool of England. The Red Devils season starts on August 10 with a thrilling duel with defending league champions Manchester City for the Community Shield.
