A pretty cracking battle awaits us on Tuesday in the Premier League. Two great rivals, Liverpool and Manchester United will face off at Anfield Road. But both teams are playing for something different. While the home side are in a tight battle for the title, the Red Devils are vying for the Top 4.

Manchester United fans surely imagined this season would go much better. Last year, their team finished second in the Premier League, with big signings coming in the summer in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. But that has meant a drop in the table.

Instead of fighting for the title, the Red Devils have to fight to get into next year’s Champions League at all. At one point their hopes were looking bleak, but after Arsenal’s loss to Tottenham, Manchester are back in the game.

Ronaldo and co are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham in fifth place. With six rounds to go, the Red Devils now face their toughest hurdle for the rest of the season. They face Liverpool, who are battling Manchester City for the title.

They are one point behind the Citizens and must win without fail as Pep Guardiola’s team have an even easier draw. In fact, Liverpool will face Tottenham in addition to Manchester United, and it will be an unpleasant duel on the ground of Newcastle, which has risen tremendously.

Liverpool must not allow themselves to lose, because it is quite possible that the Citizens may not falter before the end of the season.

However, Manchester United may have to do without their main star, as Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a tragedy when one of his twins did not survive childbirth. His absence from this game is expected and understandable.

Varane, who has missed the last two games due to injury, is also in danger of starting. The autumn encounter at Old Trafford ended in a disgraceful 0:5 defeat for the home side. Ralf Rangnick’s charges must try to return that to the Reds, whether for pride or for the position in the table.
