Manchester United dominated the shootout with Sheffield United, scoring 4 goals

Manchester United finally got the better of Sheffield United and after a 4:2 win they take an important 3 points in the table. However, Erik ten Hag’s squad did not give an optimal performance at all and for a long time it looked like a shameful result. The game was turned in the home team’s favour by captain Bruno Fernandes.

The beginning of the match was in the spirit of ball possession for the home team. The Red Devils often combined only in the middle of the pitch and did not get many opportunities. Especially the offensive players lacked movement.

The first chance came in the 23rd minute when Alejandro Garnacho clashed with Fernandes and got the ball in front of the visitors’ goalkeeper. However, Wesley Foderingham made a great save to keep the game tied.

A few minutes later, however, the referee harshly penalised a foul on Maguire in the penalty area and Fernandes equalised from the penalty spot to make it 2-2.

The Portuguese midfielder directed the turnaround in the end. First, with a beautiful shot in the 81st minute from outside the box, he split the net behind Foderingham. Then, in the 85th minute, he sent the ball beautifully from the first touch to Rasmus Hojlund, who completed the final score of 4:2.

Garnacho had one more chance late in the match, but this time he did not challenge the visiting goalkeeper. Manchester United, with a squad limited by injuries, took an important 3 points in the fight for the final 6th place.
