Manchester United destroy Liverpool or a dream start for ten Haga, who hopefully won’t follow in van Gaal’s footsteps

Erik ten Hag’s first ever game for Manchester United was above schedule as his charges destroyed Liverpool 4-0. This fine start is reminiscent of Louis van Gaal’s pre-season preparations, which saw him beat LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Valencia in the summer of 2014.

Erik ten Hag’s first ever game for Manchester United was above schedule as his charges destroyed Liverpool 4-0. This fine start is reminiscent of Louis van Gaal’s pre-season preparations, which in the summer of 2014 saw him beat LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Valencia.

In the end, the Red Devils finished the 2014/15 season in 4th place, 17 points behind first-placed Chelsea. The Dutch coach was given confidence in the next season, and although he finished the season in fifth place, he enjoyed the FA Cup victory with his players.

Since then, there is certainly no question of things getting better. That’s why the fans have so much hope in ten Hague and it must be added that after the first game under his management, everyone can be happy.

We have had the opportunity to watch Manchester United training sessions for quite some time now and certain things even translated into the match itself, which Martial and co. entered very well. However, it must be added that the Dutch coach chose a very strong line-up for the opener compared to his counterpart.

Moreover, Jürgen Klopp rotated his players on the pitch much faster than the Hag did, moreover, he also had much more of them at his disposal. Thus, Liverpool players were spinning after about 30 minutes, while the opponent only after half-time.

However, the good performance was rewarded mainly by Manchester United players, who already led after 33 minutes thanks to goals by Sancho, Fred and Martial 3: 0. The last goal of the match was scored in the 76th minute by the talented Uruguayan Pellistri.

We must highlight the performance of the English winger who scored the first goal. He has looked very good right from the start of the training. It is also logical, as Sancho should suit the style of the Haga and it can be assumed that he will have a lot of space under the new coach.

The big change is of course the defence, which was on fire under the previous coaches. You can definitely see some work already, but most of all the desire to fight for the starting lineup, which was the biggest problem last season!

Manchester United’s first game can be evaluated very positively and the fans are certainly looking forward to the next friendlies, which unfortunately will not be as attractive.

United’s next opponents will be Melbourne Victory, followed by Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atlético Madrid and on July 31 they will finish their pre-season preparations with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.
