Manchester United centre-back Rúben Neves may be added in January

The role of playmaker is a highly debated topic at Old Trafford when it should be filled by the once most expensive player in the world, Paul Pogba. However, he is playing well below his potential in a Manchester United jersey and given the 4-2-2 formation, in which two of the trio of midfielders McTominay, Matic or Fred are usually in the centre of the pitch, he lacks the necessary creativity to set up attacks.
Ralf Rangnick even sometimes leaves Bruno Fernandes on the bench, which creates a situation where there are either more defensive players or “pure” strikers on the pitch. And considering the German coach’s statement that he prides himself on trying to use his players in their best positions, it is a wonder that he practices this formation, with which he cannot use the potential of his team, which, in fact, the performances in recent matches correspond to.
If we then take into account the fact that Pogba wants to leave Old Trafford, which is very likely given the contract extension negotiations, we need to quickly find an adequate replacement, which Neves should definitely be!
The Portuguese midfielder has been proving his qualities at Wolves for 4.5 years now, having become the brains of his team, which just beat Manchester United in their last game, in front of their own fans.
Neves, meanwhile, is a relatively underrated footballer whose qualities are immense and many English pundits believe he would start to excel in a top team almost immediately. He is characterised above all by his footballing mindset, great technique, a hard shot and the fact that he can play very well with both feet.
Alongside McTominay, who is less than a year older, the Portuguese midfielder could form a great duo, which would fit well with Fernandes, who is currently a bit lost when he is virtually alone in starting attacks.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been tracking Neves for a long time according to 90min and the player himself is already ready to take the next step in his career, apparently as early as now in January.
The club itself is then in favour of buying him, as the Wolves owner would like to raise the necessary money to invest in the team, which coach Bruno Lage would like to reshape in his image. In this regard, there is also talk of Adama Traoré leaving.
Then, as far as the transfer fee is concerned, there is talk of £30 million, which is a really low amount for a player of such quality, moreover tested by several seasons in the Premier League, which seems almost ridiculous.
