Manchester United can win all the trophies, Fernandes doesn’t lack confidence. But which will he target most?
Bruno Fernandes became a key figure for Manchester United almost immediately after his arrival and it was no different last season. Despite this, he and his teammates did not lift any trophies above their heads. But that is set to change this season, he says!
Bruno Fernandes became a key figure for Manchester United almost immediately after his arrival and it was no different last season. Despite this, he and his teammates did not lift any trophies above their heads. But that is set to change this season, he says!
The Portuguese offensive midfielder played 58 games for the Red Devils last season, scoring 28 goals and assisting 17 more. He has only missed a single game in the Premier League and has also completed the EURO 2020 with Portugal.
It’s been a long season! Only, it wasn’t a completely successful one for Fernandes despite these excellent statistics. Manchester United finished second in the Premier League, with only their city rivals having more points. And a similar fate awaited the Red Devils in the Europa League, where they fell short to Villarreal.
Moreover, Portugal failed to live up to the expectations of many in the European championship, where Fernandes in particular failed to live up to the expectations of many, and eventually lost 0-1 to Belgium.
Sancho and Varane to Manchester United
However, two big signings are headed to Old Trafford, namely Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, who should immensely boost the quality in the team and finally lead the Red Devils to the coveted league title.
It is the Premier League that will be a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the competition will be immense, and for that reason the top English league will no doubt offer an interesting spectacle, perhaps right up to the final rounds.
“I think, as always, we have a chance to win all the trophies we can. Last season, unfortunately for us, we didn’t win any. But Manchester United, as always, will be a very strong opponent for everyone and will try to win every possible trophy,” Fernandez exudes confidence.
Manchester United will kick off their season on August 14 at Old Trafford, where they will visit Leeds United, followed by an away fixture against Southampton.
The Red Devils will undoubtedly be one of the biggest favourites to win the league. However, as said before, the competition is great! They will compete mainly with defending champions Manchester City, Chelsea and also again “healthy” Liverpool.
