Manchester United and Chelsea are circling around Fofana. How much does Leicester value their star defender?
Wesley Fofana only played a few games all season, and that was at the very end of the season. However, he was back to his previous form almost immediately after a long injury and it is no wonder that leading European clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, are interested in the young stopper.

However, he was back to his previous form almost immediately after a long injury and it is no wonder that leading European clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, are interested in the young stopper.
Last summer was a very harsh one for the talented Frenchman. He broke his fibula during a preparatory match against Villarreal and had to undergo surgery. Already then, coach Brendan Rodgers sadly announced to the press the fact that Fofana has also damaged ligaments and will be out of action until the end of the year.
However, the Marseille native, who moved to England in 2020 from Saint-Étienne for €35 million, got a taste of the Premier League again on April 22 when he contributed a great performance to the draw with Manchester United.
Some players take a long time to get back to form after such an injury, but that is not the case with Fofana, who shone almost immediately and has been one of Leicester’s best players over the last few games.
In total, the currently 21-year-old stopper has made 7 starts in the Premier League and 5 in the Conference this season. Coach Rodgers is counting on his key defensive man for next season as well, after all, he has a contract at the King Power Stadium until 2027.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the Foxes will only talk to a potential suitor if he is willing to pay at least €80 million, as reported by RMC Sport.
Thus, a transfer to Old Trafford for that amount doesn’t seem quite realistic when coach Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in more players. However, the defence is without a doubt one of the positions where the Red Devils will probably get reinforcements, but whether it will be for that amount…
A move to Chelsea makes much more sense, with coach Thomas Tuchel’s Antonio Rüdiger leaving for Real Madrid and probably a few more players leaving. It’s no secret that the Blues have been eyeing Sevilla’s Jules Kounde for some time now.
Together with Fofana and the experienced Thiago Silva, or the talented Trevoh Chalobah, they could form an interesting defensive trio. Andreas Christensen has also been performing well, but according to the latest reports, he has one foot in Barcelona as his contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of this month.
It is the departure of the Danish stopper that could open the way to Chelsea for both of them. Kounde’s arrival seems very real, while it will be much harder for Fofana, mainly because of the high fee.
