It’s a very happy time at Manchester United. In an ironic sense. Because star striker Jadon Sancho and coach Erik Ten Hag are on the chopping block. And after the defeat to Arsenal, their spat became public.

Jadon Sancho had a very different idea about his return to England. After his great years at Dortmund, where he developed into one of the best wingers in the world and earned a solid place in the English squad, Manchester United shelled out £80 million for him.

However, the Golden Boy’s career did not go as well as it did in the Bundesliga upon his return to England. His performances were pretty poor and he scored only three times in the entire Premier League season.

Last season was a bit better, when he scored six goals, but his performances still didn’t resemble someone the club spent £80 million on.

And in the new season, Sancho is still an “extra” player. In the first three games he played 23, 25 and 31 minutes, but he didn’t make the stats and apparently didn’t convince Ten Haga that he deserved a place in the starting line-up.

Before the game at Arsenal, the Dutch coach took a radical step. He left Sancho out of the nomination and did not take him to London at all.

Logically, the questions of journalists at the post-match press conference were directed at the omission of Sancho from the nomination for the match, which the Red Devils lost 1: 3.

“Jadon was not nominated for the game because of his poor performance in practice,” said Ten Hag at the post-game press conference. “We just didn’t pick him. He has to reach a certain level every day at Manchester United for us to make any decisions, that’s why he wasn’t selected for this game, ” Ten Hag added.

But that didn’t sit well with Sancho, who took a swipe at the coach in a statement on social media a few hours after the game.

“Please don’t believe everything you read! I don’t let people say things that are completely false. I’ve been training very well all week. I think there are other issues behind this that I don’t want to get into. I’ ve been a scapegoat long enough and that’s not fair!” Sancho wrote on Twitter.

“I want to play football with a smile on my face and help the team. I respect all the decisions that the management makes, I play with fantastic players, I’m grateful and I know that every week is a challenge. It will happen, I will keep fighting for this character,” the footballer added.
