Manchester City have a season full of expectations ahead of them. After winning the treble, they are once again the biggest contenders to win the Premier League and possibly the Champions League. They opened the season with a win at newcomer Burnley.
Sevilla would not be playing cups at all after last year’s miserable season if they had not dominated the Europa League. On the league scene, they would have loved to fight for the Top 4 again, but they entered La Liga with a surprising home loss to Valencia.
Manchester City’s key figures
The English rely on Erling Haaland, last year’s Premier League top scorer scored twice against Burnley. Midfielder Rodri also played excellently, without the Spanish number six the Citizens line-up is basically unimaginable.
Sevilla’s key players
The Europa League winner is based on Youssef En-Nesyri’s goals, the Moroccan hit back in the opening round of La Liga. Lucas Ocampos is rampant from the wing, with the Argentine international complemented at the other end by compatriot Erik Lamela.
What to expect and what to bet on?
Although the Citizens look like an offensive machine, they are also strong towards the back. This is what saved their season last year, as they have only conceded more than once in two of their last 36 games in all competitions.
Sevilla have been struggling since training. They have played mostly against weaker teams, for example they fell to Rostock or Magdeburg. They confirmed their misery with a home loss to Valencia, who played for salvation in the last round last year.
Considering the upset of Manchester City, the cannonball factor of Haaland and the terrible form of the Spanish team, I think the English will win. At the same time, I expect a rather weaker Citizens line-up and therefore fewer goals.
Betting Tip: Manchester to win and and no more than four goals will be scored in a game
