Manchester City has acquired a huge Argentinian talent! Who is Claudio Echeverri, who will strengthen the team at the end of the year?

One of the world’s most promising talents, Claudio Echeverri, is on his way to Manchester City. the 18-year-old midfielder has caught the attention of the big clubs especially with his performances at last year’s Under-17 World Cup, where he was the second top scorer with five goals and two assists.

Echeverri shone the most in the quarter-finals of the aforementioned championship, where he scored a hat-trick to knock out Brazil (3-0). His Argentina then lost to Germany on penalties in the semi-finals. In the battle for third place, they then lost to Mali (0:3).

This is not the only reason Echeverri has earned the interest of the famous Manchester City. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the best English club of recent years has already signed him.

The six-year contract will include a transfer fee of 14.5 million euros for River Plate. It also includes a bonus of €9 million, which will be paid based on the player’s performance and personal statistics.

The skilful offensive midfielder will remain at his current club by agreement of both parties until the end of his current contract, i.e. until 31 December 2024. After that, he should already be moving to the famous Citiziens squad.

Echeverri path to glory

Echeverri started his journey at Deportivo Lujan, from which he transferred to River Plate in 2016. In October 2022, he scored on his debut for the reserve team against Patronato. That same year, he signed his first professional contract with the club.

He made his first start for River Plate’s A-team on 24 July 2023 against the team from Rosario. He also recently had his first major success with the club. He won the Trofeo de Campeones, which is a trophy that the winner of the first league and league cup wins.

The right-footed offensive midfielder boasts a quick dribbling, a powerful shot and the ability to go one-on-one. Among Echeverri’s biggest idols is the famous national hero Lionel Messi. He won his third ever gold medal for Argentina at the recent 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

So this is a very interesting transfer for Manchester City, who won an incredible five trophies in the last 2022/2023 season, and a great promise for the future!
