Manchester bid Ronaldo a dry and unemotional farewell. In an announcement on the website, he even took a dig at the Portuguese star

Cristiano Ronaldo has burned all the bridges that connected him to Manchester United with his recent critical interview. This can be seen in the termination notice that the club shared on their website. In it, he said a completely unemotional goodbye to Ronaldo and, moreover, praised the work of coach Ten Hag, with whom the Portuguese footballer had the biggest problem.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a very wonderful time at Manchester United. After all, this is the club that brought him up in football and in which he performed alongside the greatest football stars of history.

But that is now in the past. After his transfer from Juventus to the English club, Ronaldo has more or less struggled here. Everything culminated only this season, when the Portuguese footballer lost his place in the starting line-up.

Ronaldo couldn’t get over it and in a recent interview he then criticised the club’s management, led by coach Erik ten Hagem. He stated that he doesn’t respect his coach as he doesn’t show respect back to him. Moreover, according to Ronaldo, Manchester has stopped in time.

These statements of Ronaldo understandably could not leave the club calm and it immediately began to consider terminating the cooperation. The situation was eventually resolved by Ronaldo’s end by mutual agreement.

Somewhat surprising, however, is the style in which the club parted ways with Ronaldo. It quite obviously reflected the tensions between the two sides in recent days. The Portuguese footballer is one of the club’s biggest legends and the announcement the club made on their website certainly doesn’t reflect that.

The announcement of Ronaldo’s demise is just three short paragraphs, containing a total of 67 words. Moreover, it does not include any farewell video, which is not customary for players of this calibre. Most clubs say goodbye to their beloved players in a different way.

To mark the occasion, most clubs produce a series of videos that allow fans to recall the player’s best moments at the club. The announcements are often very long and highlight the players contribution to the club. In this case, that is completely absent with Ronaldo.

The icing on the imaginary cake was put on the cake by the club in the last paragraph, which was additionally dedicated to the club’s coach Erik ten Hague, the man Ronaldo had the biggest problem with. “Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on the progress the team has made under Erik ten Hague and working together on the pitch to achieve success,” the final paragraph reads.

It’s a part that doesn’t normally appear in these announcements and has no business being there. Manchester thus deliberately wanted to show how unwanted Ronaldo was at the club. As if to emphasise that no player is more than a team.
