At the end of June, the Swedish league resumes after a month-long break. Defending champion Malmö is looking for a string of winning games, otherwise they can forget about the title. Helsingborg is the opener, so what to expect and what to bet on?
Malmö have not done well at all in the last four rounds, gaining only three points from them as they have lost three times. It lost the second place in the table, currently five points behind the first Hacken from the fifth place.
Helsingborg has an even worse record, having lost the last four league rounds, making the situation in the table much more complicated. From last place, they are one point behind the bargaining positions, but six points behind the outright rescue.
In the home team’s jersey, it is burning for Veljko Birmancevic, the Serbian international has scored eleven times and assisted five times in the sum of all leagues. The once very talented forward Isaac Kiese Thelin has scored four times so far.
Tahu Ali has to be highlighted from the visiting squad, the talented winger has scored three goals and assisted one. Captain and top striker Anthony van den Hurk opened the net twice and assisted on two more goals.
Although Malmö are far from being in ideal form, they have kept a clean sheet through all competitions in their last three games.
While Helsingborg tuned up for the second part of the season with a 2: 0 win against second-placed Sodra, they have scored only three times in the last three rounds in the league.
Considering the quality of Malmö’s attack, the advantage of a stormy home environment and Helsingborg’s poor scoring form, I think the home side will win by two or more goals.
