Cologne and especially Slovácko will play a very important match on Thursday. Before their confrontation in the Conference League, however, Mainz is still waiting for Cologne. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Mainz have picked up in recent weeks and have lost only one of the last four rounds. Thanks to this, they have moved out of the relegation zone, they already have a seven-point lead over barrage Leverkusen, and even nine points ahead of the relegation zone.
Cologne is building on last year’s successful season and is on course for promotion from the Conference League group. They are seventh in the Bundesliga, but are only three points behind second-placed Bayern and one point behind fourth-placed Hoffenheim in a balanced table.
Striker Karim Onisiwo has been a long-time mainstay for the home side, with the Austrian international scoring three times and assisting twice. Dominik Kohr has been performing well in midfield, scoring twice so far.
Dejan Ljubicic is an exceptional scorer in the away camp, the Austrian defensive midfielder has scored six goals and assisted three. Experienced winger Florian Kainz opened the net four times and assisted six times.
Mainz have not done well at home, they have not scored in front of their own fans yet, they have drawn three times and lost once in four confrontations.
Cologne, on the other hand, has won two of their last three league games, including a 3-2 win over Dortmund. Given Mainz’s home form, I think Cologne will not lose.
