The most expensive defender in history Harry Maguire has not agreed personal terms with West Ham and will most likely continue at Manchester United.
It was already looking like Maguire would leave Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes has become the captain and the English defender is not exactly getting many opportunities. He’s even been labelled a transfer player by the club.
Unfortunately for many Red Devils fans, Fabrizio Romano announced in the evening that there will be no transfer. The clubs have reportedly agreed a £30 million deal between them. However, the player himself has been waiting for some time to agree on the terms of the contract.
While the details were being negotiated, West Ham completed the transfer of James Ward-Prowse. At the same time, the London outfit is in talks with Manchester City over the departure of midfielder and the team’s offensive star Lucas Paqueta.
However, back to Maguire, whose agent has confirmed that the player has never been agreed terms with West Ham. He added: “Harry has settled at United, he loves the club and believes he will get plenty of opportunities this season.”
To make matters worse, Manchester United have not reached an agreement with West Ham over the departure of Scottish defensive midfielder Scott McTominay. The Hammers offered £30 million for the midfielder, which was rejected by United management.
Thus, after Fred’s departure to Fenerbahce, Erik ten Hag is most likely counting on the Scottish footballer in the rotation. But of course, the previously mentioned transfer of Paqueta to the Citizens could change everything.
However, the financial situation of the club suddenly becomes essential. The intention was to buy new players to replace Maguire, Fred and McTominay, which suddenly seems impossible.
