Saturday’s Champions League final started 40 minutes late, but it didn’t detract from the quality of the match. Liverpool dominated most of the game time, Real struck from a rare chance and won 1:0 thanks to a great Thibaut Courtois.
The opening of the match was cautious from both sides, the first threat to the goal was made by Mohamed Salah in the 15th minute, but Thibaut Courtois coped.
The Egyptian winger fired again two minutes later, but did not find the Belgian goalkeeper.
Courtois shone as usual, knocking Sadio Mané’s shot onto the bar in the 21st minute. A toothless Real couldn’t get into the game, and in the 40th minute, captain Jordan Henderson fired in from a volley on the other side, but his shot was inaccurate.
Four minutes later Karim Benzema got the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside by the French striker. The match was scoreless.
The Reds were more active in the second half, but Real managed to get one combination and took the lead. Vinicius Junior was at the end of the team’s action.
Salah had the equaliser, but again Courtois saved it.
Real’s goalkeeper was not surprised by Diogo Jota’s cross in the 80th minute, and two minutes later he again saved Salah with a great save.
In the end, Liverpool did not get the necessary pressure and lost the final 0:1.
