That was a real mess. In Atlético Madrid’s duel with Porto, no goal was scored the whole match, the players were preparing everything until the set time, where three goals were scored.

This was not a good match for the cardiacs among Atlético Madrid fans. Already during the ninety minutes we saw quite a few chances, but none were converted.

In the 81st minute, Mehdi Taremi tried to simulate a penalty, but the referee didn’t take it, gave him a yellow and since he already had one, Porto went down to ten.

The real madness was just beginning to unfold. Atlético began to press, with nine minutes of stoppage time.

And in the very first minute of the setup, Mario Hermoso scored, his ground shot was teed up by defenders and beat goalkeeper Diogo Costa. With that goal in stoppage time, Hermoso seemed to have won the game.

But the Portuguese side did not give up. In fact, in the 96th minute, Hermoso went from hero to zero, playing his hand in his own penalty area and conceding Porto a penalty. Mateus Uribe sent it to the left post, Oblak got a hand to it but couldn’t clear the ball out of the net. Porto thought they had earned a draw with a late equalizer.

But the madness continued in extra time. In the 11th minute of the setup, Atleti played a corner kick, which Axel Witsel extended on the front post, Antoine Griezmann came out completely free at the back and headed the ball into the net.

Atlético thus won 2-1 after a heart attacking finish and moved to the top of Group B. In the other match, Bruges beat Leverkusen 1-0.
