There is no MMA fighter on the planet who is more famous than Irish star Conor McGregor. The reason for this is, of course, his successful sporting career, but definitely the controversial performance that has made him and MMA itself famous. However, in a recent interview, he gave a crazy plan for many pundits as part of his comeback from a serious injury.

McGregor’s return is imminent

Conor McGregor is undoubtedly MMA’s biggest star, having made the sport famous virtually all over the world. Whether his colleagues or fans like it or not, he is getting some really special treatment from the biggest MMA organization in the world, the UFC. Although he has lost three of his last four fights, it’s no secret that he is still striving for the highest standards.

The star Irishman, who hasn’t fought in nine months after breaking his ankle, has told the media on more than one occasion that he wants to fight straight for the title when he returns. This, of course, is not to the liking of his colleagues in the industry who have to wait for similar fights despite winning streaks of many years.

But the former champion of two weight divisions insists that a fight other than for the title is out of the question. Most media have speculated that upon his return, Conor will face the winner of the Oliveira vs. Gaethje duel for the UFC lightweight championship belt at UFC 274 in May.

McGregor challenges Kamaru Usman to become MMA king

“Honestly, I don’t see myself returning to lightweight,³” Conor McGregor told TheMacLife. “The comeback went well, but I’m just too big now,” the Irishman described his return after a nasty injury last July against Dustin Poirier. “I feel big, strong, healthy, full of energy, ” McGregor said of his current form.

“I don’t want to exhaust myself by losing weight coming back from an injury like this,” he explained.

“I believe a title fight with Kamaru Usman is the right fight for my comeback,” he turned his attention to the welterweight belt holder and number one ranked UFC fighter across all weight classes.

“I feel confident against him, I don’t see any danger in him,” he added towards his potential opponent.

“No one has ever won belts in three different weight classes,” he expressed his desire to make history in the sport again. “History needs to be made, the game will be shaken up again and the world will talk about nothing else,” proclaimed his assault on the biggest positions and his desire to become the now undisputed king of the sport for good.

McGregor may have bitten off too big a bite again, but you never know in MMA. The star Irishman’s left hand is legendary and one punch can decide a fight. However, both fighters are currently injured, so we’ll see how the situation eventually plays out.
