Christian Pulisic will be a 99% very unsuccessful transfer for Chelsea, on which the Blues will write a €40 million loss in their books. Lyon and AC Milan are interested in the American winger, who has not fulfilled his potential in London.

Pulisic flew out at Borussia Dortmund, from where Chelsea bought him for 64 million euros in 2019. It was a great deal for the German outfit, not so much for the Blues.

The talented American played 127 games for Borussia, scoring 19 goals and assisting on another 26. For a 20-year-old player at the time, those were decent numbers, but not at all compared to several other players.

Moreover, the 2020/21 Champions League winner often suffered from injuries, which was confirmed during his inaugural season at Stamford Bridge. However, after returning to the pitch, he played a great rest of the season, scoring 4 goals and assisting 4 more in 9 league games.

Everyone believed that the American winger was finally starting to come into his own. But the following season saw more injuries and some lackluster performances, just like the year after. All in all, he was one of Chelsea’s most underrated players in recent years.

No one can therefore be surprised when Lyon now offer just €25 million, as reported by journalist David Ornstein on The Athletic.

However, AC Milan are also in the game and should match the French outfit’s offer after an initial 14 million. Ornstein, however, sees a better chance in going to France, as evidenced by the better relations between the clubs.

It must be added that he would be a wonderful addition to a team led by Laurent Blanc (Peter Bosz led the club until October 9, 2022), under whose leadership Olympique finished 7th in Ligue 1.

Moreover, Pulisic will still be 25 years old on 18 September, so his best footballing years are still ahead of him. Plus, he’s a great role model. Memphis Depay, who went to Lyon after a failed loan spell at Manchester United, eventually earned a contract at Barcelona, had a similar career restart.
