Last year, the fans must have loved the famous Rolland Garros tournament. At least from the Czech tennis players’ point of view.
Last year’s Grand Slam Rolland Garros brought a double for Barbora Krejcikova and a great triumph for Linda Noskova. And this year our tennis players continue their top performances, as three junior tennis players made it to the semi-finals of the French Open.
However, in this semifinal Nikola Bartůňková lost to a young Argentine tennis player (Solana Sierra – ed.) 5::7 and 0::6, so the Prague native did not reach the final.
In the second semi-final Lucie Havlíčková and Sara Bejlek played each other, but in this case the match had to go to the third set. Havlíčková won the first set after 34 minutes by 6:3, but in the middle part of the match Bejlek turned away a match point and leveled the score at 1:1.
The hour-long and very even third set brought an even more interesting spectacle, but Havlíčková managed it better and won 7::5.
However, in the last act she was first down 2::5 and it seemed that the fate of the match was decided. But then Hlaváčková set an unbelievable pace and won five games in a row to turn the third set around and finally dominated the whole match.
The tournament’s number nine will play for the title against unseeded Solana Sierra of Argentina. The match will start tomorrow, May 4, at 11 a.m.
