The Chinese LPL had another great match on the schedule. But one of them stood out above all the others. Uzi has once again entered the Rift.
A few days ago, the news went around the world that Uzi, as the king of Chinese esports who was voted by fans as the best LPL player of all time, is returning to the professional scene.
His new home is with his old rivals, EDG. They, of course, kept a close eye on the new acquisition until the Chinese superstar’s turn.
Wednesday, June 14th went down in history as Uzi’s comeback. But no one was quite sure how the former superstar would fare. From the information available, however, we know that Uzi had this decision figured out, and even so, we know it was considerably risky.
Information has surfaced that Uzi has had to sacrifice more than is probably prudent for his return. Still, this particular wrinkle motivated Uzi to play at a level and fight with the best again.
The first game of the series started off great for EDG. The team played responsibly despite minor shortcomings and helped their marquee player experience his return as comfortably as possible.
The second game, however, saw Invictus Gaming show some of EDG’s weaknesses. EDG have an excellent team on paper, but their flaws in synergy and cooperation came out in full. Invictus played much more accurately and the suddenly more balanced game gave EDG a lot of trouble. Invictus tied the series and had to decide the third game.
That turned into an Uzi performance. On the outside it may have seemed that Uzi did not show anything special, however his great movement on the line and map, feel for the game and finding chances for his teammates helped the team greatly to succeed.
For this performance, Uzi was also named Player of the Match as his work helped EDG to an important 2-1 win. Uzi didn’t do too badly to start with after coming out of retirement and we will see how his form rises.
