A battle between second and 16th. A clash between the league’s overwhelming favourite, the LPL and MSI champion, and a team that is on the edge of playoff chances. However, a seemingly straightforward affair went completely wrong for the defending champions.
Invictus Gaming are experiencing a very unfortunate split. While the team doesn’t have the qualities to play with the best, an assault on the playoffs could have been more than realistic from the organization.
However, Invictus handled the battle with the favorite perfectly. A fearless and proactive approach made life very difficult for the big stars. JDG may have won the first game of the series, but Invictus played the series of their season.
The second game was an absolute school from the underrated team. JDG did virtually nothing in the game and a simple affair turned into a major drama.
Invictus Gaming managed to keep up for the third time and a big compliment was reaped by the YSKM topper. The latter decided to break the established conventions of the current meta and bring back the shine to Camille.
A tactically tied game eventually brought a resolution, as Invictus’ Cryin managed to steal Baron for his team in the battle for Baron. Missing didn’t please his teammates much after that with his mistakes, and the hungry underdog pushed the series to a victorious end.
JDG ran hard into a well-prepared Invictus Gaming and still did not confirm their direct advancement to the semi-finals of the playoffs (Round 4), where the top two teams from the regular season will play. On the other hand, this unexpected win still gives Invictus a hypothetical chance to advance to the playoffs.
