The Chinese league is still in full swing. We’ll take a slight look back at Saturday’s action in the series between Invictus Gaming and LNG.

It should have been a relatively simple affair. LNG were the clear favourites in their clash with Invictus Gaming. Only, the favorite simplistically blew this series, and a clean 0-2 loss caused one major embarrassment after the game.

After the end of the series, LNG players were attacked by many fans who couldn’t accept the lackluster performance of their darlings. The fans shouted at the star players and insulted their performance as if the team was going to lose the title match.

The indiscriminate statements and shouts were especially carried away by jungler Tarzan, who was shouted at with shouts like “Get away ” or “Don’t believe him, he’s a f**king id**t.” According to the available footage, these were supposed to be fans of Scout, who, ironically, was also not playing his best.

Logically, the internet picked up on this toxic behaviour and pointed out a fact not so visible in the Chinese league, due to the more limited access to information. It is the toxicity and bias of some fans towards specific players, even in the context of the whole team playing poorly.

With this incident, it showed on the one hand how some fan bases are more temperamental and on the other how toxic they can be. We don’t have to go far for a similar example.

The harder core of T1 fans, for example, took the loss in the LCK spring split final hard. For them, however, this was not the first incident. Fans even sent a horse-drawn cart at their team with banners containing insults and calls for the coaching staff to resign.

With the growing popularity, especially in Asia, the number of incidents where fans drop more steam is legitimately increasing. Unfortunately, however, this reflects one of the main problems with the entire game – toxicity. While Riot tries to combat this, unfortunately it’s like fighting windmills.
