Löw spoke about the end of the national team. What is his next plan?

Coach Joachim Löw is out of the German national team for good. He announced before the Euros that he does not want to continue with the national team. His successor will be former Bayern coach Hansi Flick.

England took on their unpopular opponents on Tuesday. Sterling and Kane brought them to their knees at Wembley. All in all, it was a very even match, with the little things making the difference.

What is Löw’s assessment of the Euros and what are his plans after his time with the German national team?

“Of course we are very disappointed. We have worked hard over the last weeks. Our two best chances went through Thomas Müller and Tim Werner, unfortunately we couldn’t convert them. I‘m sorry,” Joachim Löw told reporters at a press conference.

“The team gave everything. But sometimes we lacked composure, aggression and experience. All this still needs time to develop for the team to mature. There were moments in the game where we were not consistent enough, for example in defending or finishing chances. But there is quality in the team, as well as the mentality and the right setup.”

The coach then talked about his plans for the future at the press conference:

“I don’t have any plans yet. After 15 years with the German team, it will be good for me to hand over this position. A break will do me good. I was part of the German national team for a very long time, that’s why I’m not looking for anything right now.”

“I will also have to get over the disappointment and the emptiness. You don’t get over a tournament like this in a few days, I need time. Then I will have the energy for new challenges. I never said I would quit as a coach. I’m sure there will be new opportunities that will interest me.”
