The coach of the Dutch national football team, Louis van Gaal, spoke harshly about the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and FIFA officials. He described the fact that the championship will be held in Qatar as ridiculous, saying it is only about money.

FIFA, the international football federation, has chosen Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup. It is a country where football does not reach the highest level. However, FIFA officials believe that the upcoming championship will help develop the sport.

According to Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, this is ridiculous. He does not believe that FIFA is organising the tournament in Qatar just to help football develop more.

“It’s a piece of sh*t. But it probably doesn’t matter. TheWorld Cup is only about money, nothing else matters to FIFA, because nothing else matters,” Louis van Gaal told a Eurosport press conference.

The decision to hold the 2022 championship in Qatar was made back in 2010. It was a highly controversial decision by FIFA that raised suspicions of corruption. However, no evidence was found, so the host was not changed.

So far, however, it is a big bizarro. From the suspicious assignment it went on to the stadium preparations. Qatar has repeatedly faced allegations of discrimination and poor working conditions for workers involved in the preparations. It is said that more than 6,500 workers have died in Qatar due to poor conditions.

“Why do you think I am not sitting on any FIFA committee with my knowledge and experience? Because we have always opposed such an organisation. It’s not right,” Louis van Gaal said of the FIFA board.

The Dutch national football team has two preparatory matches. Van Gaal’s charges will face Denmark and Germany. However, the Netherlands will have to do without their head coach, who has tested positive for coronavirus and will therefore not take part in the matches.

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will run from 21 November to 18 December.
