Manchester United fell again, this time at Watford. The pressure to sack coach Solskjaer is mounting. Can he resist it and hold on to his job?

We have already witnessed far harsher treatment of coaches than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now receiving at Manchester United. The Red Devils suffered their second league defeat in a row. However, the form of the last five games speaks volumes – five games, four losses, one win.

In the first round of the Premier League after the November national break, Solskjaer’s charges and struggling Watford were brought together on the same pitch. Right from the start of the game belonged to the home team.

Just after six minutes they kicked a penalty after a foul by McTominay. Ismailla Sarr’s attempt from a set piece was corrected by Kiko Femenia, but the penalty was replayed. Sarra’s second attempt was also unsuccessful and De Gea was successful for the second time.

If you thought Manchester United were going to grab hold of their noses, so to speak, and start playing at full speed, you’d be wrong. Joshua King sent the home side into the lead in the 28th minute, with Sarr increasing the lead to 2-0 a minute before the break.

Five minutes after the break the unfairly neglected Donny van de Beek reduced it to 1: 2, but then Maguire made an undisciplined tackle. Two yellow cards in quick succession sent Manchester United shorthanded.

Not only were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s charges in a difficult position to equalise, but they were in danger of losing even more. The latter option was the one that eventually became a reality.

Two goals at the very end completed the demise of the once famous Manchester United. Seventh place with more than a ten-point gap to first-placed Chelsea? That’s really nothing for the Old Trafford club to be proud of. The coach’s upraised hands in apology towards the visiting fans, sadly, will bring no comfort.

If the Red Devils ‘ management does not swing to sacking the Norwegian coach even after this defeat, when else will they?
