The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team confirmed their rising form as they took on the Charlotte Hornets, who, however, were not just going to give up. Miles Bridges, the game’s top scorer with 41 points, gave the home team a lot of trouble, but Anthony Davis shone on the Lakers’ side with a triple-double.

The Lakers dominated the half

The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed their growing form right from the start. They dominated the first quarter 37:29. After their previous successes, they went into the game with one goal, and that was to win for the third time in a row and reduce the deficit to the eighth team in the Western Conference from Dallas.

The Lakers dominated the second quarter by the same score. They led by 16 points at halftime and everything was pointing towards them going for the win. However, the Hornets players picked it up after halftime and made their shots more accurate.

This was mainly due to two players on the home side – Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller. They even recorded their NBA scoring highs in the game. The Lakers were traditionally pulled by the trio of Lebron James, Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell.

Davis reached the triple-double mark after just three quarters

The third passage of the game was won by the Charlotte team by a difference of two points, slightly reducing the halftime deficit. After three quarters of the game, Anthony Davis reached the triple-double mark. In just 29 minutes on the floor, he already had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Anthony Davis has already achieved his second triple-double this season. Although, he had one in his previous 11 years in the NBA. This alone points to the fact that he has matured from a mere scorer into a more versatile player who works more for his team.

However, in the last quarter of the game, the Hornets rose to the occasion and mightily stretched the lead the Lakers had built up for the half. Unfortunately, they never got the turnover, although they won the last quarter by eight points. Miles Bridges was a big contributor as he loaded the Lakers’ basket with 41 points and set a new NBA shooting record, interestingly enough he didn’t get a single rebound in the game.

In addition, rookie Brandon Miller was also very good, he also had a lifetime performance with 33 points and 4 rebounds. On the Lakers’ side, Russell was the top scorer with 28 points, while James and Davis finished the game with 28 points apiece.

The Lakers thus notched their 27th win of the season and are making a mighty run at Dallas, who still hold the eighth seed in the Western Conference. After a very good second half, the Hornets had to settle for their 10th defeat in the last 11 games and are one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference with a 10-39 record.
